Small Classes, Big Results

When you come into a Maine Pilates studio for a class, you’re demonstrating your commitment to feeling your best in your body. You’ve taken time out of your busy schedule to show up for yourself and your movement practice. Whether you are a college athlete cross-training during the offseason, a busy parent making time for yourself between your kids' extracurriculars, or you’re looking to support your strength and mobility in your later years, you’re here for results.

Our small classes ensure high-quality instruction and individualized attention you need to reach your goals.

Safety First

We take your safety very seriously at Maine Pilates. Smaller class sizes allow instructors to keep an eye out for potential safety risks, so you can concentrate on your workout and reduce the chance of injuries.

Our instructors can help you adjust your Reformer and set up safely for even the most challenging exercises.

In large classes, it simply isn’t possible for an instructor to come around and help make adjustments for people or assist multiple moving bodies as they balance and move on our Reformers!

Individual Attention For Better Technique

No matter how long you’ve been practicing, having an instructor who can offer your individual adjustments can make a huge difference! Bodies compensate for areas that are less strong or hold more tension; it’s what they’re supposed to do! This is why having an instructor watching and providing individual corrections is absolutely invaluable.

Your Maine Pilates instructor will gently remind you to close your ribcage or engage through your quads to protect your knee joints. This type of adjustment makes all the difference in your Pilates technique.

Smaller classes also means that your instructors can get to know you! You’re never just a number or a body in the room. Maine Pilates instructors learn your name, your goals, and watch you progress in every single class you take. This allows them to offer you individualized modifications or suggest progressions when they are right for you. That personal relationship is why your Maine Pilates instructor cheers when you take your first full plank at a lighter spring or encourages you to hold your Teaser for a few extra seconds.

Concentration is one of the six fundamental principles of Pilates.

A Deeper Mind-Body Workout

In a Pilates class, you’re not just working your muscles; you’re connecting your nervous system, your musculoskeletal system, and your cardiovascular system under fluctuating tension and stability. That takes a lot of brain power! Large, crowded classes with thumping music can be fun, sure, but they don’t allow for the focus required to achieve the full benefits of a Pilates practice.

Smaller classes allow you to maintain focus, connect your breath with your movement, and stay in the present moment. All of this will help you to get the most out of a Pilates class, enjoy the post-class bliss of deep mind-body connection, and reach your wellness goals faster.
