Anatomy for Movement Professionals 

STOTT PILATES requires a working knowledge of functional anatomy that covers the human musculoskeletal system and includes muscle attachments, actions and basic biomechanics. If you are thinking of becoming a Pilates Instructor, this course is the first step.

Designed for Pilates instructors, apprentice instructors, fitness instructors, or anyone who may need the foundation of anatomy, or a refresher. This course will help to further your knowledge and better apply it to the STOTT PILATES repertoire. 

If you have a medical background, university or college level anatomy or physiology course, online course experience this anatomy training participation may be waived. Your previous training may be accepted provided the coursework amounted to a minimum 20–25 hours of learning and included homework assignments, tests and/or a final examination. If you are unsure about your coursework meeting the requirements please reach out about auditing this course and next steps.

Intensive Pilates Reformer Training

Program requirements:

•          Working knowledge of functional anatomy and prior participation in an anatomy course that covers in detail the human musculoskeletal system and includes muscle attachments, actions and basic biomechanics. 

Recommended:

•          Minimum 30 hours participation in Pilates classes/workouts.

•          3+ years teaching movement or fitness. Strong history of Pilates participation and/or experience instructing students/clients in another field is helpful.

If you don't meet the recommendations, reach out about setting up a plan for success. We offer a bridge and apprentice program before and after certification.

 

STOTT PILATES Instructor Training: INTENSIVE REFORMER (IR) – 50 HOURS

This course teaches you to design and lead the Level 1 Essential and Intermediate STOTT PILATES Reformer repertoire for personal or group training settings for a range of clients. You will leave with a solid foundation and required skills to develop effective and motivating Pilates Reformer programs covering 139 exercises on the Reformer. Upon completion of the training you will be able to serve every client base to meet the exercise needs of all clients, from post-rehab to elite athlete. Students learn modifications to progress and regress clients appropriately to achieve and maintain fitness goals, and to use top-quality, user-friendly small props and equipment to properly position clients for effective exercise.

What you can expect from the STOTT PILATES Instructor Program

  • How to apply STOTT PILATES biomechanical principles of core stability, breathing and alignment to all exercises.
  • A complete breakdown of each exercise.
  • Exercise goals, muscular initiation and movement sequencing.
  • Modifications to increase or decrease exercise intensity.
  • Modifications for specific body types and postural issues.
  • How to recognize optimal and less than optimal movement patterns.
  • A variety of programming options to keep clients motivated.
  • Effective communication skills, including verbal cues and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation.
