FUNDAMENTALS: Join us for Fundamentals, the perfect introductory pilates class to Maine Pilates. Whether you are new to exercise or looking to deepen your Pilates practice, this series will provide a supportive environment for you to learn and grow. In Fundamentals, you will learn the basics of our Pilates equipment, essential exercises, and key terminology. Designed with a rotating curriculum, means it is easy to join any Fundamentals Class at any time whether you are a beginner or seasoned practitioner. When you can perform exercises in the Fundamentals classes with good form, fairly easily, and without a lot of explanation - you are ready to join Reformer or HL: Reformer classes.
To ensure your safety and progress, Instructor approval is required before joining Reformer or Healthy Living classes. This approval is based on your ability to safely perform exercises in the Fundamentals class. Typically, 4 to 10 Fundamental classes are required to learn and apply the foundational movements necessary for Reformer classes.
REFORMER classes are open level (beginner to intermediate) which offer a quicker pace ensuring a challenging and effective workout for individuals who have mastered the foundational movements of fundamental classes. Please note: Clients who are in their second or third trimester of pregnancy must get studio approval before attending this class. Please do not book this class unless you have approval.
HEALTHY LIVING (HL) REFORMER classes are designed for individuals who want a slower-paced class with incremental learning. These classes move at a similar pace to our Fundamentals (formerly Reformer 1) class and focus on gradually building strength, flexibility, and balance. Modifications are provided to make the exercises accessible to all participants. In our Pilates for Healthy Living Series (HL), we incorporate movements safe for those with arthritis, osteopenia, osteoporosis, pregnancy, degenerated disc, or rehabilitation of injuries and chronic pain.
